Our Directors, Janice Hughes and Mike Toepfer, are both a bit shy about highlighting their ages … but their number of years specialising in property law work is a bit of a giveaway.
Each year, experienced property lawyers have the opportunity to sign up via their professional body – the Property Law Section – for Accredited Specialist status. This status reflects recipients’ experience, ongoing upskilling and contribution to the profession. Janice and Mike both have significantly more experience and expertise in the property law field than is required to qualify, so easily “made the grade”.
Property has been one of Janice’s specialties since the beginning of her career in Invercargill. Today, she continues to work with clients from around the globe in all aspects of property law, including residential, rural and commercial. She has for many years advised on large, complex transactions, a specialty she particularly enjoys.
Mike moved to Wanaka nine years ago from Auckland, where he had led the commercial property team of a major law firm. During his career, he’s been involved in high-end projects, including inner-city office blocks, multi-storied apartments, and large-scale subdivisions. He also works with families and landlords, providing legal support around residential buying and selling.
